Tree Relocation

Root pruning months ahead, careful excavation, replant with the right backfill and water schedule.

Not every tree survives a move — some species handle it well, others rarely do. Honest assessment first, then a plan.

Every job is custom. We assemble the right crew and equipment for your specific trees — one yard takes a climber and a ladder, another takes a crane crew and a full ground team. Photo bid → written scope → work done as written.

Things to know.

  • Sabal palms transplant remarkably well at almost any size — often 90%+ survival with proper handling.
  • Mature live oaks above 6-inch DBH are very difficult to transplant successfully without years of preparation.
  • Root pruning months ahead of the move builds a tight root ball at the new dig line.
  • Survival odds depend on species, size, season, and post-move watering — not just on the skill of the move itself.
  • The new site needs the same prep as a brand-new planting: proper depth, mulch ring, establishment watering schedule.

What affects the price.

No two trees are the same. These are the variables that move the estimate — so the photo bid lands close to the final number.

  • Trunk diameter — bigger trees, bigger root balls, bigger equipment.
  • Distance — across the yard vs. across town.
  • Species — palms easy, oaks hard.
  • Root-prune timeline — 3-month vs. 12-month preparation.

Permits, protected trees, Florida-specific notes.

Sabal palms are one of the easiest mature trees to move successfully — Florida's state tree transplants at almost any age. Mature live oaks are the opposite: very difficult to transplant without extensive root-prune preparation, and survival odds drop sharply on specimens above 6-inch DBH.

Frequently asked.

What trees move well?

Sabal palms at almost any age, young hardwoods under 4-inch DBH, ornamental tropicals like plumeria, and most palms in general.

Can my mature live oak be moved?

It depends on size and preparation time. Live oaks above 6-inch DBH have low transplant survival rates even with extensive preparation. We'll do an honest assessment before quoting.

How much advance notice do you need?

Ideally 3–12 months of root pruning before the actual move, depending on tree size and species. Emergency moves can be done with less prep but at lower survival odds.
